The 17th Conference of the European Sociological Association (ESA) 2026 was held in Warsaw from 25 to 28 August 2026, bringing together sociologists and social science researchers from across Europe and beyond to discuss some of the most pressing challenges facing contemporary societies. The conference was held under the theme “Strengthening Democracies: Social Action, Solidarity, and Sustainable Futures.”

Marina Galstyan, representing our Centre, participated in the conference and presented the key findings of our research on Armenian youth. Her presentation addressed the social adaptation of young people in post-war Armenia, processes of developing independence, biographical transitions under conditions of uncertainty, and young people's perceptions and expectations of the future.

ESA 2026 provided an important platform for expanding the international academic visibility of our research, engaging in professional discussions, and establishing new scholarly connections. The discussions at the conference created an opportunity to bring the experiences of Armenian youth to the attention of the international sociological community and to situate them within broader comparative and European contexts.

Participation in the European Sociological Association Conference represents another important step towards strengthening the international visibility of research on Armenian youth and enhancing Armenia’s presence in the field of sociological scholarship.

Another significant achievement this year was the publication, in June 2026, of an article presenting the findings of our Centre’s research on Armenian youth in a special issue of The European Sociologist, the magazine of the European Sociological Association: Issue 54 – “Sociological Perspectives on War and Peace.”
